You forgot to mention the Doctype, I'd personally consider that as something worth mentioning to someone looking to make their first page.

Hey Peter,

Thanks for sharing your insight. I think there isn't such a thing as 'normal' per say. Rather what we perceive it to be, and that can change based on our surroundings throughout our life. I don't think it's something to get down about if you don't feel you fit into your predefined category of normal. Instead try to be what you feel is right and stand by it firmly.

As for age, I'm a firm believer that you're never too old to learn new things. I myself have adopted a way of being which means I learn constantly. Learning is something which I make part of my daily habits. Because you never know when you might come across that next nugget of gold which changes your hold paradigm and creates new outcomes in your life.

I'll leave you with this: what you think becomes your reality. If you think you're lazy, that will become your reality, just as the opposite will too. "He who says he can and he who says he can't are both usually right"

I only just found this post today..now over a year since you posted it and I don't even now if you are still posting here (..haven't checked out the rest of it yet.); but I wanted to say a few words in reply..and I sincerely hope you do get to read them.

In short, I really enjoyed reading everything you said..and, for one, you suggestions are really worthwhile and..for me anyway..useful. I have to be the laziest git I know..and I have known a few over the years, let me tell you!

However, in my case, my life..from early childhood, has been nothing short of a emotional nightmare..a "noman's land" pockmarked with pain and misunderstanding, littered with everything from an alcoholic father and an emotionally abusive mother, through personal drug adiction and attempted suicide, up to deep feelings of guilt and strange sexual compulsions.

The list goes on and on..with the end result that my life is currently a one fucked up mess. I feel like a genius trapped inside a fool's body and nobody seems to understand me or where I am coming from!

I know this is not their fault and that they are merely reacting to the image/mask I project out to them..but that's just my attempt at being what I perceive to "normal", in the social meaning of the word.

I'm now hitting 46 this year and am married with 3 teenage kids..and, thank God, I don't seem to have passed on my deep personal defects to them..something that did cause me a certain amount of worry when each of them first came into this world.

In fact, they..along with my wife, have been a real "saving grace", both in it and of it. Without them I seriously doubt I would still be alive today.

As for laziness..in my own case..I think it's like all the other negative aspects of my psyche..it will do you harm until such a time as you come to terms with it and then it becomes a useful tool to help gauge just how far you have to go and how much more you need to travel, before you can finally reach that promised land..inner peace and sincere happiness.

My apologies if this post has been a bit on the "heavy" side..it wasn't written to read that way...it's just me sharing my thoughts on what you posted, along with a little bit about how I arrived here today at your blog, while searching out ways to improve myself..even at the tender age of near-46!

Anyway, thanks again for a great post and for some really level-headed suggestions.

Kind regards..
